Although the lumber industry REALLY starts in the woods, our portion of the business begins
here in Charlotte at our log yard where the logs are sorted by specie and length. If you look
closely, you will see several numbers on the end of each log. The single digit number is the
log grade; the two or three digit number is the footage of lumber that the log contains.
