Now that the cant has been squared, it is sawn into lumber. Again, the expertise of the sawyer is key as he or she must know when to rotate the log to yield the most high-grade lumber. All logs will yield lumber that will grade Select, #1 common, and #2common. A talented and experienced sawyer can cut a log in such a way that maximizes the amount of select lumber.
