Get Your Profits Out Of The Scrap Cart And Into Your Pockets! Don't Like To Glue? We Do.
To edge glue our wide boards we use the "glue wheel".
Do you often end up with a scrap pile too narrow to use for another product? Well your not alone. It can be costly when your project requires one or two widths, and your working with the random widths of hardwood lumber.
The investment for equipment and time to glue the edgings robs a woodworker from the talents better spent making products. As an example, let's use an order for drawer sides ½"x5". We will start with $1000, for 500' of 6/4 lumber and surface it two sides to 1-7/16", then rip one edge to a rough size of 5-½" for an additional $65. A common waste factor is 1/3, (1,000 + 65=1065/3= $355) so we have $355 of the investment to save from the scrap pile by gluing up the edgings. Next we resaw the solid ripped pieces and the glued blanks for $60 so the whole order is ready to make drawer sides ($355-$60=$295). You've reclaimed $295 from the scrap pile.
